Summer Is In. School Is Out.

Parents know now their kids are mainly going to be at home and will be needing ways to entertain them and keep them busy with summer activities.

So, how do you beat the boredom? By planning a few adventures. Summer activities in California need to include both indoor and outdoor plans in case of high heat and over-active children. Here are some of our favorites, in no particular order, to do with kids to keep their minds and bodies active this summer, while also giving you some time to bond, and maybe even unwind.

Yosemite -- hike, explore, camp and submerge yourself in nature. The best thing in our backyard! --

Sunshine Rafting Adventures -- has been providing self-guided river rafting float trips on the Stanislaus River out of Knights Ferry, CA for over 30 years. They specialize in family oriented rafting trips that are perfect for inexperienced rafters, families, or those just looking to get away and relax on the beautiful Stanislaus River. Also, they have affordable pricing includes a day of Knights Ferry rafting, paddles and life-jackets, a dry box for valuables, photos of your group, as well as a shuttle at the end of the trip. Located just a half hour east of Modesto, Sunshine Rafting is the closest rafting to the Bay Area and provides an ideal setting for those looking to spend a day of fun while enjoying the California sun! --

Tahoe -- Lake Tahoe's water is known for its clarity. You can actually see down about 30 feet from the surface and you can even scuba dive and snorkel in the clear, blue water. The maximum depth of the lake is about 1,645 feet deep with an average depth of about 1,000 feet. It is the second deepest lake in the United States after Crater Lake. Since the water is snowmelt, it is cold year round, but in the months of July, August, September and even into October you can swim without a wetsuit. The average temperature of the lake is about 45 degrees F in the winter and 65 degrees F in the summer. --

Golfing with the kids -- The First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after school and in school programs, they help shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect and perseverance. And it’s making a difference.  They provide caring coaches who positively impact area youth by mentoring, guiding and educating them in character development and mastery of life skills through the game of golf.
